10 Famous Last words !

It is believed that people tend to become the most honest when they are about to die. Some have even said that of all the words a man utters in his entire lifetime, it is what he says on his death bed that makes the most sense. Here is a list of the 25 famous last words ever uttered as well as relatively brief accounts of why they said those words wherever necessary

NUMBER 10.

"Pardon me, sir. I did not do it on purpose." - Queen Marie Antoinette

Right at the peak of the French Revolution, Queen Marie Antoinette was convicted of treason and was sentenced to die of guillotine with her husband, King Louis XVI of France. Riding a cart, she was taken through the streets of Paris and mocked until she and King Louis XVI were finally brought to the guillotine site. While she was already on the scaffold seconds before her death, she unintentionally stepped on the foot of her executioner and decorously uttered her words of pardon.

NUMBER 9.

"Hey fellas ! How about this for a headline for tommorow's paper ? 'French Fries' " -James French (A convicted murderer)

James French, a convicted murderer, was sentenced to the electric chair. He shouted these words to members of the press who were to witness his execution.

Now here's an ambiguous one because one can decipher its meaning differently,

NUMBER 8.

“OH WOW. OH WOW. OH WOW.” - Steve Jobs

What the prolific thinker may have in mind while saying this word no one will ever know

NUMBER 7.

" Tomorrow, I shall no longer be here " - Nostradamus
Saying these last words before he departed this life, Nostradamus seemed to have predicted even his own death. It was believed that before dying, he was lying on his deathbed and listening to the songs of Cohen. On the day of his death, Nostradamus was working on a quatrain about the end of the world.

NUMBER 6.

“I am about to — or I am going to — die: either expression is correct.” -Dominique Bouhours (a famous  french Grammarian)

Even at the time of his death, legendary French grammarian Dominique Bouhours never failed to prove his proclivity for seamless grammar. On May 27, 1902, the grammarian and neo-classic essayist and critic uttered on his deathbed in Paris his final words in front of his loved ones, demonstrating his proficiency in grammatical construction, syntax and clarity even in the face of near-death frailty. Even in his death, Bouhours never failed to make his wit show.

A TRIVIA !
Albert Einstein while dying spoke a few words in German before dying and the nurse attending him could not understand them as she did not understand German and hence his last words have been lost forever !

Here i quote the last words of  a famous painter can never ever be matched in his works who felt till the end that he could not achieve his potential

NUMBER 5.

“I have offended God and mankind because my work did not reach the quality it should have.” - Leonardo da Vinci

NUMBER 4.

"Put out the bloody cigarette!! " - Saki (H.H Munro, famous military officer and writer)

Saki (H.H Munro) said the above words to a fellow officer while in a trench during World War One, for fear the smoke would give away their positions. He was then shot by a German sniper who had heard the remark.

The famous scientist Newton thought about his greatest discovery ever while on the verge of leaving this world

NUMBER 3.

" Let me think... I wonder if an anvil will drop like an apple ?" said to be the last words of Sir Issac Newton

NUMBER 2.
“Don’t worry, they don’t usually swim backwards.” -Steve Irwin
The Australian wildlife expert was killed while filming a documentary on September 4, 2006. Irwin was fatally pierced in the chest by a stingray spine while snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef.

Now i want to quote last words which i deem are very important. I consider them important because one should never have such a regret in life. Because in this situation not even god can forgive you for the these large amount of sins. Never possess such a regret before you leave this world.
NUMBER 1.

"Allah Kasam, maaf kar do"  - Ajmal Kasab, before hanging the Terrorist behind countless cold blooded murders in Mumbai terror attack

Constructive criticism and comments are welcome. If you feel some quotes should have made the list then you are welcome to comment :D
