Football is really a very unpredictable game which can really give some bizzare moments and can really bend to any side at any point in the game.I experienced it myself with my team and had a thrilling match.

The XTACY FOOTBALLERS

This game was for the college football tournament as a part of the Sports fest "Kurukshetra".Me and my football team had practised a lot with each other by runing our comfortable holidays by coming and training together.Even though we practised at a ground in C.B.D belapur,there were people like Swapnil Ghare who came all the way from Asangaon which is aorund 60-70kms away.Others also showed the same spirit with Nitin coming from Shivadi,Swapnil Khsirsagar from Uran,Kunal and Rakesh from Airoli and many others like Saurabh and Ganesh who came from Panvel .Everybody showed the same enthusiasm and were all charged up for the game.We had quality shooters in Kunal and Saurabh with good finishing skills of Nitin,not to mention passing of Ganesh and Swapnil K.We had a good defence with shot stoppers in Rakesh and Swapnil G. and me playing as an attacking defender.Our goalie Akshay Harvande was very agile and had a long range goalkick.So with this well prepared team we were confident and raring to play!

We people (Second year Electronics and Telecommunication) were pitched against a well prepared but somewhat gutsy Third Year Instrumentation Department guys who were a tough lot.The game was delayed due to the usual mismanagement of the organizers.The game which was to start at 2:00pm started finally at 4:00pm.It was a 7 player game and we were having a formation of 2-1-3 which we thought would suit us well.So the game started with us starting the play.It was going well with good attacks by Kunal,Nitin,Ganesh and Saurabh provind good movement between attack and defence.All that lacked was a good finishing touch! Even the opposite team gave us the scares when they got a good low shot on the goal but our goalie Akshay stopped it in the nick of time and we heaved a sigh !! With good attacking football on both sides the First half of 10 minutes ended.

Disaster struck when I while getting defending a atacking crosss tried to head it off but just ended in scoring an own goal ! Still we did not gave up hope.We did a sub and brought an attacking player Uday in place of a defender and attacked with all our might.We got the breakthrough and our captain scored the all important equaliser.We were mad with excitement and celebrated like hell ! Ganesh who was on the sidelines got a futile yellow cared just because he ran to the scorer Kunal.That was really a Funny sight to watch a substitue who is not even playing getting a yellow card ! Football really can bring up Bizzare situations! The half ended with the teams tied at 1-1.

With the game going to the penalties Nitin scored the first goal for us.Saurabh D. who was our goalie saved a sureshot goal and gave us a lead.Swapnil missed the second and even the opposite player missed.Then came up our Captain Kunal and he just missed the top corner by a whisker.The Instrumentation player who then came up for the 3rd penalty scored and the game went into Sudden death penalties.Uday took the next penalty for us and his shot on the lower right corner was saved beautifully by the goalie.Even the other player missed.Now our ace and dependable player Saurabh D. came up for the penalty.Our hearts had already come out of our chests and we were waiting with bated breadth.He narrowly missed.We prayed like hell for the other player to miss his penalty.His shot was perfect and aimed for the top left corner and he.............SCORED !!!!!!!!!!!

With broken hearts we left the field.It was really unfair for the team who really tried hard and we just wanted repayement for our efforts.But it was not to be ! NOw Let's make a resolve guys we will practise even more harder and will win "KURUKSHETRA 2013"! Lets do it Guys ! ! !
